AUTUMN CAMPAIGN LETTER 2005
Autumn is here and the joy of the Christmas season is fast approaching.
It’s during this time of year that the Sweet Pea Foundation turns its
attention to the many sick children who will not be at home this holiday
season.
Ronald McDonald House of Indiana Fund: As
many of you know, Suzanne and I spent several weeks at the Ronald
McDonald House of Indiana during the fall of 2002. We know first hand
the incredible service that the RMH provides to families that are caring
for children in hospitals that are far away from home. It is for this
reason that the Sweet Pea Foundation set out to achieve its first goal
of an endowment that will perpetually support a room at the Ronald
McDonald House of Indiana. Thanks to your generosity and support we are
very close to achieving that goal. 80% of the money raised during the
Autumn Campaign will go toward this effort in the hopes of reaching this
goal by the end of 2006.
Toys: The Foundation currently has an
additional 350 toys that will be delivered to Riley Hospital in
Indianapolis, Children’s Memorial in Chicago, and Memorial Hospital in
South Bend. We plan to make these deliveries before Christmas so that
the children can enjoy them throughout the holiday season. To date the
Foundation has purchased over 1,700 toys.
NICU and PICU Items: We have
received requests for scrapbooking supplies, mobiles and bouncy chairs
from our hospital contacts. 10% of the money raised during this Autumn
Campaign will be designated to purchase these specific items.
Blarney Bash: The
Foundation’s 2nd Annual Blarney Bash was a huge success raising over
$3,500. We look forward to surpassing that figure this March. Please
save Saturday, March 18th for the 3rd Annual Blarney Bash. We hope to
make this year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration the best yet!
Kickoff Classic Golf Outing: The Foundation
held its 2nd Annual Kickoff Classic Golf outing on September 16, 2005 at
Juday Creek Golf Course in Granger, Indiana. A special thanks to all the
golfers who braved the cold and rain to participate in the outing. We
congratulate our winners: Ed Hardig of Land America Lawyers Title, Jason
Taege of St. Joseph Capital Bank, Steve Brown of Elkhart Community Bank
and Robert Carr of Elkhart Community Bank. We also would like to thank
the following sponsors for their support: Land America Lawyers Title,
Niblock Excavating, Wachovia, and Wightman Petrie Environmental.
Pop Can Tabs: To many, a pop
tab is just a piece of aluminum with one purpose—to open a can. But to
the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, the pop tab is an invaluable
resource. Collected pop tabs are recycled, generating funds to support
the House and the 1,500 families they serve each year. The Sweet Pea
Foundation has received numerous donations of pop can tabs over the past
few years. We now have over 130 gallons of tabs and hope the Foundation
can become a member of the “Collect-A-Million” club sponsored by the
Ronald McDonald House of Indiana. Please feel free to contact the
Foundation if you would like to donate your pop can tabs to this cause.
We hope you will continue to support the efforts of the Foundation this
fall. Our distribution of funds received during the Autumn 2005 Campaign
will be as follows: 80% will support the Ronald McDonald House of
Indiana fund, 10% will provide toys and the remaining 10% will fund
requested NICU and PICU items. As always, 100% of your contribution will
be utilized for the Foundation’s goals.
We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity and
support that the Sweet Pea Foundation receives. Because of you, the
memory of our precious daughter Grace lives on by touching the lives of
those in need—and for that, we thank you.
